Let Me In, I Hear Laughter

Dean Ward was recommended to me by James Moll, who I know through the Survivors of the Shoah project. Dean was producing the documentary on his own, with no budget. He had a very solid plan for the production and marketing of the film, and he knew what story he wanted to tell. I was convinced that he'd finish and sell the project, so I agreed to shoot it.

A year and a half later, Cinemax bought Let Me In, I Hear Laughter and aired it in January, 2000. It was well received, and will air again, and no doubt get international distribution.

Let Me In, I Hear Laugher is an insider's look at the history and current state of the legendary Friar's Club.

We shot exclusive interviews with celebrity club members, roast honorees and club staff. We added original behind the scenes footage to take the viewers inside the club and lift the veil of secrecy.

Let Me In... has received some good attention in the press, including a story about the genesis of the project in the International Documentary Association Journal, as well as reviews in the New York Daily News and Shecky Magazine.

The film is now in home video release, having been picked up by White Star Home Video.

Let Me In screened on November 11, 2000 at the New York Comedy Film Festival. The theater is The Anthology Film Archives at 32 Second Avenue (at Second Street). The screening was followed by a panel of comedians including Janeane Garofalo, Jackie "The Jokeman" Martling, Freddie Roman, Jeffrey Ross, and others.
