Survivors of the Holocaust

I was one of the first cameramen to be hired by the Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation. They had already shot some "test" interviews and I shot the "pilot" interviews which were presented to Steven Spielberg for approval. The next week I shot the very first 20 or so interviews and over 300 interviews over the next five years.

The goal of the foundation was to interview as many first hand witnesses to the Nazi atrocities as possible, focusing on concentration camp survivors, and including some "Righteous Gentiles" and camp liberators as well.

As a result of the archive project, the foundation produced Survivors of the Holocaust in 1996 with Turner Broadcasting.

It won several awards, including two Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award and others. I have a Director of Photography credit on the project.
